Hi Dawn,
I know years ago when I was in private practice, I had to go thru a process
of becoming a provider for some of the insurance companies. If I had
provider status I could bill the insurance directly. If not, the pt had to
pay in advance and submit the forms and receipt to get reimbursed herself.
I think it is the same today, but I'm sure the process is different and
linked to the new Affordable Care Act. I believe USLCA has lots of info on
this.
