I agree it likely is NOT thrush due to the treatments not working last
time and now.
I was wondering a couple things:
*does she use lanolin or any other treatments like gel pads? (even if
these make her feel better for a short time, she could still be
allergic).
*does mother use any bra pads, especially if disposable ones.
*does baby drink any formula at all? or take vitamins?
*does baby take a pacifier?
Mom could be having a reaction to any of these.
It sounds like some kind of allergic reaction. So what I would suggest
is to double rinse all of her clothing that touches her breasts, use
all cotton bra pads (double rinses), rinse nipple/areola after bf and
allow to air dry, perhaps a thin application of a cortisone cream
after bf, but I would consult a dermatologist too.
