Permission to post. I was contacted by a mother in South Devon, UK who states that her 2 month old baby has a "moderate lip-tie" (as discovered and described by mom) and is very unsettled/feeding constantly. This is an experienced breastfeeding mother who knows that it is normal for babies to feed frequently. States her nipples are often blanched/sore after nursing. Weight gain has been ok, but mom is at the end of her rope. She says that baby does not have a "normal" tongue-tie but she has asked about a posterior tie and been brushed off. The advice she has received so far is to let baby cry a bit and top up with formula. The parents do not want to have the baby under general anesthetic to have the lip-tie released, and mom is not aware of any other options in her area. This mom needs some support from someone knowledgeable about tongue/lip-tie and supportive of breastfeeding. Any suggestions?
Warmly,
