Subject: block feeding and mastitis
I have permission to post. I have yet another mother with another question. First time mother with an oversupply that she is trying to manage with full drainage and block feeding. However, she developed mastits in one breast after her 2nd round of doing the full drainage when she was full. She had mastitis previously in the other breast but that was related to sore, cracked nipples at that time. She was so painful that she pumped that side frequently, thus contributing to her oversupply. She has tried to posture feed without success. She came to me after she had tried all this on her own already. Any suggestion on how to best guide her through this? She is very fearful. TIA.
