PTP
Wise Women!
This is one I know nothing about! Mom and baby both seeing an
endocrinologist, baby's MD not certain how to proceed and has
recommended 1/2 bf, 1/2 formula. Mom is using 8-10 oz of formula a day
and doesn't want to. Baby was bf well. Now is spitting up and has
gastric upset.
Met mother for the first time today. She has a long history of high
calcium levels. She was hospitalized for it several times during the
pregnancy. MDs have not been able to determine the cause. She
experiences nausea, thirst and doesn't feel well.
-Mom and baby are having labs done once a week.
-Mom's calcium level at 12.4 was told 10.2 is highest they want.
-Baby's ionized calcium was 1.5, now down to 1.44 was told 1.4 is high
-Baby was experiencing tremors, twitching
-MDs concerned about parathyroid, tests came back normal
-Mom going in to have gene sequencing done
-Told to feed 1/2 formula to be on the safe side
Birth
-C-section, about 2 hours of IV fluids, mom reports little to no fluid retention
6# 6oz. Down to 5#9oz after 24 hours. Back up to 6#12oz at weight check
I do not know how to proceed. Any information or resources for the MDs
would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to all!
