What I used to do for biting was to either push breast into baby's face or baby's face into breast.  This blocked her/his nose which made her/him open her/his mouth and stop biting.  

The harder part was when my son would bite down as he fell asleep.  Ouchie!  I'd have to carefully slide a finger into his mouth to release my nipple while keeping him asleep.
