I have permission to post.

I am seeing a mom whose baby has a posterior tongue-tie and a lip-tie and is not interested in revision. He also has a more than average recessed jaw. He can latch and transfer milk well but mom had a lot of nipple damage and now has candida. When I visited, I was able to help her to achieve a pretty comfortable latch with exaggerated attachment in a laid-back poisition. Since I saw her however, she was advised by someone else to use a nipple shield due to the yeast infection and pain and now the latch is worse. She is asking for more help with latch and I am wondering if anyone here has much experience with helping a mom to nurse a tongue-tied baby? I really like the description and pictures of latch here:

Does anyone have any other suggestions other than laid-back breastfeeding, compressing the breast parallel to baby's lips, asymmetrical latch and neck extension? I don't think we can do much self-attachment because mom's pain is pretty severe.
