Hi Pam,

I look at it as providing information to my clients. Clients can then take the information I provide and make an informed decision as to how to proceed. If I have information about an herb or a drug that I think may be helpful in a certain situation, it is my duty to share that information with the mother and leave the choice up to her. Coming from an LLL background, I have always considered what I do to be offering suggestions rather than offering advice or making recommendations. This is empowering the mother in her breastfeeding and mothering. I think it's all in how the information is given.
