For a while we used the gowns with snaps across the shoulders. You can open completely, or just leave the top snap closed for access with privacy. Now we have gowns with shoulder snaps & little breast holes hidden in folds in front. The holes work for most mom, esp experienced moms, but restrict skin contact. They are used for pumping but make hands-on pumping problematic.
I prefer the shoulder snaps & no holes.
