Buried about in the middle of each of the Pathway descriptions, IBLCE
explains the best candidates for each route:
http://americas.iblce.org/pathways
Basically, 1 is for current healthcare providers OR counselors from
LLL-type organizations;
2 for those who go to a handful of specialized academic programs, and;
3 for individuals who can design a mentored program. 3 is the one non-HCP
BF helpers who don't have 5+ years with an LLL-type-org will use ... BUT
(consider this anticipatory guidance) it can be difficult to find a mentor
AND to find places that will let you do your clinical hours if you are not
employed there.
Good luck. You will love being an IBCLC.
