I realized that for 2012 the early date for paperwork submission is the
end of Febuary or you can pay an additional fee and submit by the end of July
deadline. In reviewing the deadlines, it looks like the this is the first
year with the earlier submission dates. Does anyone else see the problem
here? Because of the change, the only way to use the 2012 ILCA conference
CERPS is to miss the early bird deadline and pay more money on top of the what
I considere high conference fees.

Hi Dawn,

I renewed last year by CERPS and used the early deadline, in February, so
I think it may be newish, but perhaps not new this year. As you say, for
people relying on the year's ILCA conference to get all their CERPS, yes it is
a major disadvantage. Since I am lucky enough to live where my local
chapters of ILCA and LLL, combined with online things, provide many
opportunities, I had the CERPS needed. I realize this is not true for everyone.
Ironically, it is probably cheaper to not take continuing ed and just take the
exam every 5 years. ( Just be taught to the test, and not necessarily learn
about all the new and nuanced information that no test can cover.) I've
always found this annoying. I am seriously thinking of not recertifying at the
20 year mark for this reason.

Peace,
Judy
