I know I have read or heard somewhere that it is easier for a baby to breastfeed than bottle feed. And/or they burn less calories breastfeeding than bottle feeding. I am trying to find some articles about this but have not been successful. I am looking for this because at my hospital a Pedi nurse told a mom to limit the feeds to 20 mins total because the "feeding is burning calories and tires baby out (hence the baby asleep at the breast)"....This is a normal term healthy newborn, that has had some latch difficulties and mom and baby have been working to correct it. I don't feel that the info provided by the nurse is accurate and I would like to have research to back this up. Am I dreaming that I read/heard this info correctly? Thanks for any info you can pass on. Have a happy, safe July 4th!
