My goodness, the things we can learn about breastfeeding from a Formula Industry "Blog."
Turns out there's an "award winning author of a breastfeeding book" writing for that outfit- here's just a sample of what I learned in just a few minutes:
There is a "Magic Window" of time (between 3 and 6 weeks of age) when you can teach your baby to take bottles AS LONG AS you offer one to two bottles of breastmilk or formula EVERY DAY, without skipping any days. If you miss the "Magic Window" there is a good chance your baby will refuse the bottles and may even go on a nursing strike!! Who knew?
If it's summer, and you're breastfeeding you need to get "lots and lots" of fluids, and you should talk to the baby's doctor about giving him water as well.
If your baby is hungry after a feeding session at the breast, there might be "nothing left." So you should offer formula, and the baby "is only going to eat it if he's hungry." I KNOW!!! This is news to ME TOO!!
And this one: "Watch What You Eat While Breastfeeding." I'm not even going to tell you about this one- it's too upsetting.
And to think that if the formula company had never offered this "award winning" person a blog gig, I might never have learned these things.
Grateful in Cali
Sue
