It's always good to ask questions about who's making decisions. I grew up
in Chicago where it made sense that it would be smoke-filled back rooms
filled with old boys.

But when you think about the USBC - take a look at all those names on the
membership list. But if you are in a room with these people - it ends up
people you've seen and known before. Like Linda Smith and Marsha Walker and
Allison Walsh (Lamaze) and Audrey Naylor (AAP) and Melissa Bartick
(Massachusetts Bfdg Coalition).

I am proud to say I'm a Friend of the USBC (now I'd better give another
donation!). Most of them are doing it for love and not much money - just
like all of the rest of us.

And the fact that breastfeeding is on the political map as much as it is,
has certainly been helped by the work of the USBC.

Dawn Kersula in Vermont - who sometimes has been a delegate from Vermont
for the big USBC conferences, and has felt humbled to be there and
re-energized every time
