THAT was exactly what I said to her yesterday!  (woman breastfeed toddlers
thru pregnancy all the time.  The milk turns into colostrum at some point
during the pregnancy.  There is no risk for these moms to breastfeed unless
the doctor has put them on bed rest and told them not to have sex.  Pumping
once a day is far less than most of those moms are breastfeeding!  It takes
the removal of the placenta to cause the drop in the progesterone to start
lactogenesis II. It has no relation to whether anyone was breastfeeding or
pumping. )  

 

Her concern is that we "don't know" if that baby is still getting 4 weeks of
colostrum as it hasn't been studied yet.   So my response was "well, then
lets DO IT" !!  Our milk bank actually has the ability to test the milk.  I
hope they take me up on it!
