Conference advertising is not permitted on Lactnet primarily because it is
advertising which is not permitted in general. Additionally, there are
dozens of conferences on lactation issues every year. If you add on all the
other conferences that are tangentially related to lactation (OB/GYN,
pharmacology, neonatology, nutrition, parenting, early childhood, WIC, etc.)
we could potentially have hundreds of conference advertisements on Lactnet,
each one only relevant to a few people. Plus there is the whole issue of
sponsorship of those conferences...
I believe there is a listserv dedicated solely to conference listings and I
apologize that I cannot remember the specifics. Perhaps if someone out
there is familiar with that list they could post the subscription direction
so those that want to be notified of upcoming events can do so through that
venue.
