I've heard reactions to this cover picture here in Norway to the tune of 'this child is going to have serious problems later because his mother allowed a picture of him breastfeeding to be on the cover of TIME magazine'.

I have seen this type of reaction posted all over the place, and it completely befuddles me. I just can't follow that line of thought. Honestly, short of some adult who lives near this family planning to keep the magazine so that they can drag it out when the lad is 10 or 12, and pointing out to their own little angel that this is "that boy" they go to school with, I don't see that 10 years from now any of his classmates will know or care that he was breastfeeding when he was 3.

And just to add my own little one's reaction, when my own 5 year old saw the cover, he looked at it briefly and then moved on. I asked him what he thought about it. He came back and took a longer look and then gave me a look that said he wasn't sure what I was asking. I asked him to tell me what he saw, and his simple reply was... "a mommy."
