Had an interesting conversation with the executive director of the milk
bank. She is a very wise woman whom I respect immensely. She said that
there are just so many things we don't know about yet. We know that there
is colostrum mixed with the mature milk for 4 weeks post delivery. What we
don't know is if the mom who has been pumping for 4 weeks prepartum, will
still make colostrum for 4 more weeks post delivery. And, yes, she will
have that colostrum saved up, but it is frozen thus not as nutritional as it
would have been fresh.
Hmmm.
I guess someone needs to STUDY this!!!! I certainly hope the body still
makes colostrum for 4 weeks post delivery!
