<Also, another question. If pregnancy milk is made under the influence of
the placenta, how could pumping for the last 3 months of pregnancy increase
the amount of pituitary-driven milk in lactogenesis II?>

I don't know if it can. This happened for the mom with whom I spoke but the cause was not necessarily the 3 months of pumping. This is the only mom I know who has actually done this so I don't know what was the cause.

Because of the research by Jane Morton, we know that hand expression of colostrum in the first three days does affect future milk supply. I have also have anecdotal evidence from many tandeming moms that their milk supply came in very quickly and was abundant for their newborns (these moms nursed their first babies throughought their pregnancies).

It may be that removal of colostrum before birth affected milk supply or it may be that the continuing removal of colostrum in the first three days was the reason for the abundant supply of the mom in question.

If nipple stim does not increase the risk for early labor, then I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to try prenatal removal of colostrum to see if it does increase supply in cases where robust milk supply may be especially important.
