There has been some research about this some years ago, ...I remember after
reading about it I started telling my childbirth education couples about
the research and what it came down to was that if they had a C/S, and there
were no other complicating (ie:infectious) issues, they really should try
to make sure that some vaginal fluids got to the baby's face and hands, " as
soon as possible after the C/S, like in the pacu or soon afterwards, reach
down between your legs with your clean hand or your partner's clean hand
and scoop up some vaginal fluid and rub some on baby's face and
hands"...that woke them up!
It's been many years since I've taught CBE classes, so, the research or
article would not be recent.
