I just noticed this and can't do a long reply, but I can tell you from my firsthand experience that the dentists procedure is sufficient in terms of clipping and my children tolerated it quite well. I found it to be a huge improvement in my case, and my son was much older. When I had it done my POV was that any improvement would be worthwhile...
