The holes on the feeding tubes are on the SIDES of the feeding tubes. So if the holes are squished against the baby's tongue or the mom's breast, which is easy to happen, the tubes won't flow. If the hole is at the end and it is a little past the nipple it won't be blocked. If you tape the tube DOWN to the breast securely and OUT ONTO the NIPPLE itself -- about 1/8 to 1/4 inch from the tip of the nipple, it won't hit the baby's mouth in ways that irritate the baby. Ditto for taping it to the side of the finger for finger feeding
