Besides being a brilliant writer, a conscientious, loving person and an
excellent speaker/teacher/advocate for breastfeeding, Chris had one of the
best laughs it has ever been my privilege and pleasure to hear. There are
people much closer to her who have even more reason to mourn, but I will
miss her voice in our community and I am grateful I had the chance to laugh
with her (and Pat Young and Magda Sachs and Mia Westlund) until our sides
ached on the one occasion when we met, three years ago at VELB in Vienna.
The thought of that bubbling, alto laugh being extinguished is so sad, the
world really needs people who can be as compassionate and engaged as
Chris and still laugh.
May we all honor her life by continuing our common work.
