If this were my case, I would lean toward thrush because of the itchiness and shininess. Is the reason you're not thinking it's thrush just because baby is asymptomatic? It's absolutely possible to have thrush in one party and have the other party not show symptoms. Of course, it's important to treat both parties so that you're not inadvertantly passing it back and forth. I have found most moms typically need way more than the one-time dose of Diflucan to kick persistent thrush, as well as other usual measures (probiotics, hygiene measures, etc.)
