Hello all,
I have a young mom, PTP, who has been struggling with her baby biting when
he breastfeeds. He is 7 months old. She has been very committed to
breastfeeding despite many challenges, but is now considering weaning
because of this issue. I have given her suggestions such as watching the
baby for signs that he is about to bite, offering teething alternatives,
cold items, taking the baby off the breast when he does bite, etc.,
basically everything I can find in any book or article about this topic,
but it has not seemed to make a difference. I told her I would ask for
more suggestions here. Does anyone have any more advice for us?
Many thanks,
Sonya Shaver, BS, CHES, IBCLC
