One more thought on the American obsession with hind milk being the "good" milk: I read "Babywise" by Ezzo a couple of years ago which we all know is LOADED with really destructive breastfeeding & baby care advice. One of the things that struck me was Ezzo's *repeated* assertions that by NOT scheduling feeds & ensuring that they lasted the magical allotted amount of time you would be depriving your baby of hind milk & thus hindering his growth. Now we all know that many babies on Ezzo's program fail to gain weight well and may eventually end up being supplemented with formula BUT it sure isn't because of foremilk/hind milk "problems." Sheesh! I would imagine other baby scheduling sort of books make similar assertions. It's just one more place moms might be getting these ideas that seem totally crazy to us.
