This baby seems to me to be behaving very normally and certainly gaining
weight well! He's two pounds over his birth weight in less than a month!
I don't understand why she is doing block feeding, unless you think there is
oversupply. But this pattern of frequent feeds with occasional gaps of two
to three hours is absolutely normal and not in any way a sign of a problem.
In fact, I would praise the mother for being so responsive to her baby's
cues and needs, because too many moms would think "oh, he can't want to
nurse again already" and try to put the baby off with a pacifier or walking
around.
It would really help if she could get away from timing the feedings and
taking note of how often he is at the breast. Babywearing can help, but
understanding how normal and appropriate this is can help even more, I
think.
