Hi all,
I am a peer counselor and had two moms back to back with a similar issue this morning. Both reported a lack of regular bowel movement in less-than-10-day-old newborns. One baby wasn't having a daily bowel movement, and the other was having 1-2 blow out diapers a day. Neither baby is back to birth weight yet but they are close.
Are frequency of bowel movements always an indicator of adequate milk transfer? Can a breastfed baby be "constipated" for lack of a better term and be healthy?
With both babies, I have the "ding ding ding" going off in the back of my head saying that I am missing a piece of the puzzle.
Thank you for your help!
Lisa Paul
