WOW!! I cannot imagine trying to withhold food for anyone, let alone a
baby, for 4 hrs b/c of iron drops.
I cannot tell you if I have ever in my life gone 4 hours without a
"snack" or a meal.
Besides, it seems that iron on an empty stomach would be a wonderful way
to cause excruciating
stomach pains in these poor babies. (Think about how you feel when you
take a PNV or iron on an empty stomach).
We dietitians tell people to take vitamins with food to reduce the
nausea factor and the stomach pain.
I think most moms have common sense will just "feed their babies" and
give the vitamin or iron drops
"when they remember".
Just my experience.
