Good grief. I thought we were over this nonsense. A mom called me
yesterday - she is having issues and is terribly torn up. She is going to
pump for a couple days and heal then I'll come out and see what the deal is.
I strongly encouraged her to rent a hospital grade pump ASAP as she only has
a PIS - and it was purchased in 2008 and was used A LOT. So she calls a
local hospital center to reserve a pump and 2 different LC's tell her that
her PIS will be just fine because it is just as strong as a hospital grade.
?????? Even Medela states the PIS isn't the same as a hospital grade and is
not ideal for bringing in a milk supply! This mom is only 7 days pp.she
needs a hospital grade pump - not a 3 yr old overused pump that no one has
any idea of how well it actually is working.and she is only pumping 1 oz at
a time.sigh.
Why is this inaccurate information still out there? This inconsistent
information (that I apologized to the mom about) is one of the biggest
frustrations I have. Some things should be 'known' by now, shouldn't they?
Frustrated and worried about a mom, baby and supply this morning.and hoping
she will take my advice and get the hospital grade today.
