Judy, I agree that commercial formulas are not on my top ten fav list, but 
certainly much safer than trying to concoct your own!  Today's formulas, if 
prepared correctly, are preferable to what  most of us were fed (evap milk, 
water and karo-my mom never mentioned adding any sort of vits) and certainly 
more preferable to that concoction she has recipe for.

You have to  know that I am strongly against using mixes, bought foods, etc 
of any kind.  Mostly cook from scratch.
So it is unsual for me to say the store bought formula is preferable to 
"homemade" recipes. Of course, formula is not preferable to the REAL 
Homemade stuff , but this situation calls for something. Kind of sad that 
the mother listens to everyone and bounces from one thing to another.   Pat
