Hi, Kathleen.  The contractions that this mother is feeling may not have
anything to do with breastfeeding per se, though they may well be oxytocin
related.  It is quite common for women to cramp after intense orgasm, for
example, during ovulation, and around the time of menstration.  Some women
even 'feel' their ovaries at certain times during their cycle, or after an
oxytocin release (ie, sexual activity).
 
Might be that this mother experienced a number of things that brought about
an oxytocin release, but that when she went to breastfeed that was the final
surge that brought on the cramping/contractions.
 
I know my 'innards' never felt the same again after childbirth!  I used to
feel phantom baby kicks!  LOL
