Pat, thanks for mentioning this upcoming event, and I agree with
Wendy's thoughts too. Adelina Garcia's name caught my eye, and if she
has anything to do with what will happen, then it's guaranteed to be
marvellous. I was lucky enough to be invited to the LLLI
international conference in Bilbao, Spain, in Nov 2010, which had
been organized by Adelina. I have to tell you that this was more of
an Experience than a conference, with every conceivable detail taken
care of absolutely beautifully. Adelina and her colleagues had taken
infinite care to ensure that this was a fabulous event, with
brilliant hospitality and seemingly effortless and gracious attention
to every tiny detail over several days from the welcome cocktail
party through to the closing ceremony. I took my husband and he had
the greatest time too, mixing and mingling with the big international
Names, and some of their husbands as well. And yes, every session was
simultaneously translated into several languages. It was all so
brilliant that I urged Adelina to write a paper on How to Organize a
Conference, because others could learn a lot from how it can be done!
Thank You, Adelina =D>. Pat and everyone who will attend the upcoming
event in June, you're in for a treat!

I know we aren't supposed to advertize conferences, but I can't help
myself :-) Chris Mulford and I went to VELB in Vienna a few years ago
and had a wonderful cross-cultural time! Viennese pastries are unbelievable!
June 27-29 there will be a conference in San Sebastian Spain.
Speakers include Hale, Bergman and Sterken and will be simultaneously
translated in English and Spanish. Contact [log in to unmask]
