A colleague has described something similar in a woman severely with her first baby and less so with her second. However with the first baby latching was very difficult and what came out of the breast was something akin to thick milk mixed with redcurrant jelly. This really stopped mum from trying anymore. Antibiotics were prescribed and follow up at 6 weeks revealed nothing untoward and her breasts were almost back to pre pregnant. Breast feeding was not successful the second time but for different reasons-mum had been used to the "ease"and "convenience" and family sharing feeding with formula and decided this was much more suited to her.
