Lisa,
You have accurately described the day of about 50% of all IBCLC's. We share your daily frustration.
As it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a united effort to support breastfeeding moms and babes.
I don't know how long you have been in the profession, but in 20 years as a hospital based IBCLC, I have seen mountains being moved in the past few years with the support of AWHONN, Academy of BF Medicine, AAP and JCAHO Perinatal standards.
Take a deep breath and hold on for the wild ride. Take solice in your fellow IBCLC's to let off the steam.
We will get there, one step at a time.
I hope you can find the fuel and environment to continue to light your passion for breastfeeding.
