I have found that many babies who are sensitive to dairy are also sensitive to
beef - I suspect the proteins are similar - and you mentioned the mother eating
meat. I wonder if she would do better with a diet focused on fruits and
vegetables for a while?
Is there anything that seems to coincide with this once a week time of extreme
fussiness and distress? A long drive in a carseat? Some other possible allergen?
I would also be inclined to step back and start over, if the mother is willing.
This baby's system has had formula and medications and possibly milk with
allergens in just a few weeks - I'd really like to give him a chance to have
just mother's milk for a while to see if things will heal. Then if that doesn't
work we could gradually re-introduce the medications. Of course I'd want to work
on the latch too, given your description.
