I opened my box from Medela, of replacement tubing for the lactina pumps that I rent. I was quite surprised when I saw a very large warning sticker on the front of each tubing pack. The warning sticker is hot pink and attention grabbing! If there is a way to post this pic, please advise me on how to do so. Essentially, it says" WARNING Do not use tubing from borrowed, resold, or second hand PIS. Use of breastpumps used by anyone other than the original owner presents health and performance risks and void the warranty. For more information contact Medela......"
I am cracking open my 4th, used PIS, today. I will be adding the pics, video and cultures to my fungi project and as soon as I get back all of the confirming information, I will share my findings-which by the way are disturbing!!! I am weary to the bone, treating my moms and babies with resistant yeast infections and the common denominator has been their use of "USED" PIS! Half of my moms quit breastfeeding because of the daunting yeast protocol struggles. The other half required often daily support from me. I must say, that my moms are yeast free after they stopped using their PIS!!!! However, the avergage out of pocket costs for my moms has been around $450.00! The cost of 3 rounds of difulcan, typically 2 rounds of difulcan for baby and one round of Nystatin, probiotics, APNO, herbal supplements, The cost of a rental pump, never mind the TIME to boil parts, throw away & replace pacifiers, laundry costs.....well, you get the picture!
I am interested in your thoughts, regarding the 'wording" of the warning, and of course any other comments, suggestions that you may have for me. I will not be bluffed by the giant, Medela.
Regards,
Jody
