Thought I'd ask one more time before I give up! We'll have to finalize
flights shortly. I'm still hoping to find someone willing to spend a
few days after the conference with our ILCA partner from Uganda. She is
pretty much on her own in her country, and is hoping to sit for the
IBLCE exam next summer. There are currently no IBCLCs in Uganda and few
in Africa. She speaks excellent English, is educated, works with
handicapped children as her paid job, but her love is breastfeeding
advocacy and spends many, many volunteer hours with the breastfeeding
projects she has started with mothers in rural Uganda.
I was hoping she could shadow a lactation consultant in the hospital or
private practice for a few days. The conference ends July 17. You
wouldn't have to be attending the conference; I could probably arrange
to get her to you. This would be an opportunity for you to learn from
each other. She spent time last year with Barbara Wilson-Clay and
Amanda Ogden and both said they really enjoyed it.
If you're in the San Diego area and would consider spending time with
her, please please please email me with questions. Thanks--
