If anyone thought for one moment that Nestle had changed their ways and really were going to educate Newark about breastfeeding and good nutrition - think again.
Check out link: prnewswire.com Press release about Newark / Nestle partnership. Scroll to the bottom of the page: covered with Gerber ads, (Nestle owns Gerber) sign up, coupons, money back offers, lies about their relationship / responsibility under the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes etc., etc.
They are SO blatant - they don't even wait to try to sneak in their real reason for this partnership. Nestle is thumbing their nose at all of us, the mothers and babies and the Surgeon General of the United States.
WE MUST STOP NESTLE!!! What started as a small fire in one US city is rapidly becomming a wild fire throughout the whole country.
Keep your signatures and comments coming in to the petition. Go through your address books again. Get everyone involved. Discuss Nestle in your workplace, at your dinner parties, sporting events etc. and give people the link to the petition. Show people the link I just sent you.
The health of our children is everyone's issue.
Email any ideas / contacts that you have / report any talk of Nestle starting partnerships in other cities or States. Do any of you work in the Family Success Centers in Newark or do you know others who do? Hold meetings with concerned people / brainstorm. Anyone have contact with journalists or media? Maria and I need your help. She updates the petition site every few days - keep checking to see what's happening.
