Karleen, there is no official recommendation on total duration, I'm
happy to say. I can't prove this, except to say this is the reason
you can't find one!
As for the 2005 Infant Feeding survey you asked about yesterday, your
interpretation sounds right to me - maybe ask Magda direct or get in
touch with the authors?
Some of the stats in the Survey, this one and all the others in the
same series, have to be inferred using the results from different
questions. There's an understandable resistance, I think, from the
research body to change what is actually asked, as the survey is so
well-established and there are sound reasons for asking the same Qs
each time. Wish we could turn back the clock and ask extra ones and
different ones, personally - though we are all grateful we have this
survey because it is very useful to inform policy and for local
programmes to have something to compare with.
