I have had plenty of mothers with a history of MRSA somewhere on their body and babies are breastfeeding in our facility. I am expecting a mother to come in and deliver soon who has a history of a nipple piercing with MRSA infection 8 months ago. I dont know if she has a recent culture done . Have any of you had this situation? I know when she comes in everyone will come to me and ask if it is okay to breastfeed. I assume without a current infection that it will be. Any thoughts or references?
So grateful to have Lactnet!
Sue
