Hi Chayn,

I agree with you that this is likely normal period pain, tenderness related to menstrual cycle.

As she has weaned on that breast, but is breastfeeding on the other, it seems reasonable to

assume that the pain experience could be different. I would be mostly reassuring her.

However, at age 45, I am in favor of her breast being evaluated at least by a breast exam done

by an experienced examiner, and/or ultrasound or mammo. I agree that bf is not a contraindication,

and should not even be a factor anyway since she has weaned on that side.
