According to the Norwegian reference work on medications used while
breastfeeding, there is no reason to stop breastfeeding if mother is taking
Privigen, any more than she should stop breastfeeding while using any other
product made from human blood. Aside from it not being likely to have any
ill effects on the child, immunglobulins are notoriously poorly absorbed
orally, which is why they are given IM, IV or subcutaneously.
I see from the company website that it has not been tested on lactating
women - not exactly surprising as lactating women are specifically excluded
from drug tests. But it sounds like a non-issue from what I can glean in
Norwegian sources.
