I am hoping that someone can help me strategize a way to obtain my clinical experience for the IBCLC exam for 2013.
I am a paid peer counselor working without the on-site supervision of an IBCLC. From my understanding, my current job doesn't count towards the 1000 hours. I was previously employed in a county with an IBCLC and probably obtained 650 hours in that position.
One idea that crossed my mind is to become a LLL Leader in order to accumulate the hours. It seems kind of crazy that I can volunteer my time to do what I am doing now and it will count. There is not an active LLL in my community but I used to be very involved as a member when I lived in North Carolina. Does anyone have an idea of what the cost involved would be?
Pathway 3 isn't an option in my area.
Anyone else have a better strategy? It seems like something I don't want to leave to the last minute :-)
I appreciate any suggestions.
Lisa Paul, ICCE
