Breastfeeding Answers Made Simple (page 685) talks about MRSA in relation to mastitis.

The book says that with a healthy baby there is no need to discontinue breastfeeding if the mother has MRSA, as the baby will have already have been exposed before symptoms were obvious in the mother. If the baby was preterm or in fragile health the mother should pasteurize her milk.

I wonder if this could mean that since this mother is already a carrier that the baby will be born with antibodies from the mother to MRSA.

What do others think?
