I'm posting this for Carole Peterson -- for some reason her posts keep
being rejected by Lactnet, as do her requests for help...
Please let's look and this question and evaluate each step or portion of
the question.
Don't mothers weigh their babies? Hmmm I think they do. It appears
the real question here is what to do with the information received
from
weighing. And of course, anyone doing the weighing would be trained to
use the scale in the clinic. Weighing a baby is part of the WIC
visit.
WIC Peer Counselors have to attend the Peer Counselor training. At
this
training, all peer counselors are taught to yield or refer to their
Breastfeeding
Coordinator, which all WIC Clinics are required to have. These
Coordinators are
either RNs or RDs.
WIC Peer counselors are not functioning in a vacuum, they are part of a
team. And the Breastfeeding Coordinator is required to refer any
problems
to the HCP.
