Hello Friends,
While studying for the quickly approaching exam (yikes), I came across this information in "Breastfeeding and Human Lactation", Riordan and Wambach, "The exterior of the pump should be cleaned with antiseptic solution each day and the pump cultured monthly." Our hospital uses only the Symphony (contract with Medela) and I don't think anyone has EVER cultured a pump...and housekeeping has never clean pumps on a daily basis.
Thoughts?
Thank,
Marie Ivey, BSN, RN, LCCE, CLC

(who is looking forward to starting summer on July 26th!)
