Sad to see this Nancy but not surprised. Surely this is a massive "own goal." Presumably unless ILCA change their policy Ameda will continue to be able to use ILCA events to market their products? As I posted on Lactnet some years ago, the treatment of Lansinoh as unconnected from Pigeon means that companies can simply retain a separate corporate structure for their acquisitions- market their bottles/teats, infant formula etc as unethically as they wish and yet maintain the "breastfeeding" product segment of their "clean" so far as the Code goes and so be able to freely access marketing opportunities like breastfeeding conferences- there is no cost. Seems that Evenflo learnt this lesson well.

However, I can say with certainty that one
strong influencer in these dynamics was the ILCA Board's decision to
allow Lansinoh to exhibit at its conference despite its parent company's
Code violations and against the recommendation of NABA and the
International Code Documentation Centre. When ILCA does not take a
strong and consistent stand on Code violations in its own exhibit hall,
how can we expect industry to take the Code seriously?
