Hi everyone
This is a curious and, frankly, crazy study, conducted in the US, see
http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/early/2011/08/30/peds.2011-0691
which concludes "Black children were more likely to be sensitized to
food allergens and were sensitized to more foods. African ancestry
was associated with peanut sensitization."
Peanuts are a traditional food in many, many African societies and
yet I have never known an African to be sensitive to them. But guess
what? Babies are breastfed for years. Could that be the confounding
factor in this study? Did the researchers control for feeding
method in infancy?
