Dimpled nipples tend to dimple again within minutes after coming out of
baby's mouth.  If they stay moist inside the dimple all the time they can
become quite sore, chapped and crack.  This depends on how deep the dimple is
obviously.

If the dimple is deep the mother needs to facilitate drying before the nipple
turns in.  She can do this with a hair dryer on cool or she can purchase the
dimple rings that The Lactation Institute sells.

Breast shells rarely do anything to keep the dimples out because they put the
pressure too far back.
